Together with John Waugh Racing Boats, the Performance Factory team will be bringing you the 8th Rock That Boat event. We are proud to once again have attracted the best of South Africa’s rowing talent with TeamROWSA using the event as an important part of their selection in the build up to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Alongside them will be some of the best schools and universities crews building to be the next generation in South African rowing. We also welcome a new sponsor to the team: No Limits manufacture and supply high performance on field competition (team)wear and has come onboard as naming right to the No Limits Performer of the day. This is awarded to the highest performing crew against the Rock the Boat benchmark times. Some of the best athletes in our sport have their names on the high performer trophy and Saturday is a chance to add another crew to this developing history.

Entries can be edited with the token you were given when entering crews online. These changes can be made until 14:00 on Friday, 1st February. Please ensure you have done all changes by then. Any late crew changes made on Saturday morning will be limited to scratching and crew changes for medical reasons only. All coaches are requested to double check their entries, age groups and boat classes. Anyone found out to be entering down will be named, shamed and disqualified. Anyone found to be accidentally racing up, won’t be moved down either if changes have not been made before 14:00 on Friday. With the change in course, there will be a change in traffic patterns from the last few years. Please ensure your athletes attend race briefing at 08:00 so they are aware of the rules this year Normal bow numbers will be used for the finals. Please remember to bring these. Heads race numbers must be collected in packs per coach (or users name on entry system) at regatta control. Deposit per number will be required. Two crews in the same event cannot double up on boats; however you can use the same boat between crews for the 1km and 2km events. Lastly, we will be making a broadcast WhatsApp group to share information to the coaches. We will be using this to run a launch order for the heads race. Please contact us if you need a coach added to this group that did not get a user profile on the entry system.

Entry fee to regatta will be R40 per spectator. This is over and above the Roodeplaat Dam Nature Reserve fee of R50 charged at the gate We will once again have the SAB beer garden in a prime spot for watching racing and we promise, beer will be cold. There will also be Clemengold Gin and Tonic on tap for those looking for something a little different. There will be SnapScan at the bar, otherwise the event will only accept cash. So please come prepared. This year, with the help of the St Andrews parents, we will be raising funds for the Roodeplaat facility upgrades. There will be food for sale throughout the day. We aim to have enough raised to replace the concrete barrels under one of the polystyrene jetties. The Go for Gold foundation together with Germiston will be running a tuckshop for anyone with a sweet tooth. Racing will be bow ball to bow ball so get there early to secure a table. After the finals, please join us for Prize Giving where the No Limits Performer of 2019 as well as best dressed and best crew name will be awarded.
